How to Calculate Cement & Sand Quantity For Plaster
Cement mortar is used in various proportions, i.e. 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:6, 1:8 etc. for plaster work
In this article i will tell you for 1m3 and thickness of plaster should be in between 12-15 mm.
Let Assume
Area of Plaster = 100 m²
Thickness of plaster = 12 mm = = 12/1000 =0.012 m
Mix Ratio=1:6
Calculate Volume of Plaster
So, volume of plaster = Area of plaster x Thickness of plaster
For joints & wastage in brick add 20% extra Quantity
Then ,total volume of plaster = 1.2 + [ (20 x 1.2) /100 ]
=1.2 + 0.24 =1.44 m³
This is the wet volume of cement mortar (after mixing water) but we need dry volume. To get dry volume consider 35% bulking of sand (Dry volume of plaster = Wet volume x 1.35 )
Then , Dry Volume = 1.44 x 1.35 m = 1.944 m³
Now :- Our Ratio is 1 : 6 then , Sum of ratio =( 1 + 6) = 7
Quantity of Cement
(1.944 x 1) / (1+6) = .2777 m³
Density of Cement = 1440 kg/m³
Weight of Cement = 1440 x .2777 m³ = 399.88 Kg
weight of 1 bag of cement = 50 kg
Number of bags = 399.88 Kg /50 = 8 bag
Quantity of Sand
(1.944 x 6) / (1+6) = 1.666 m³
1 m³=35.3147 cubic Feet (C FT)
Quantity of sand = 1.666 x 35.3147 = 58.83 C FT
Density of sand = 1920 kg/m³
Weight of sand = 1.666 x 1920 =Â 3198.72 kg
