- Begin by reading the title block. This should give the title of the drawing, so that you understand what the drawing is meant to convey. It should also tell you whether the drawing is issued for construction or not.
- Start with the most general view available in the drawing. If there’s a key plan, start with that, as it will tell you which part of the project the drawing refers to.
- As you read the drawing view, you should be able to visualize the structure. This is the step I can’t help you with. You have to develop your own imagination in order to see the structure from any orientation simply by looking at one or two views.
- Section marks and view arrows on the drawing will help you relate one view to another. Make sure you understand these properly.
